A new study from the University of Western Australia has found that drinking 3 cups of tea daily can protect against heart attacks and strokes. The study shows regular drinking of either black or green tea can reduce the risk of heart problems by 11 percent, cut plaque build-up in arteries and deliver a good helping of antioxidants. Researchers believe the benefits are largely due to the flavonoid content, which are the antioxidant ingredients that counteract cardiovascular disease. One cup of tea provides 150-200 mg of flavonoids.
