If you think that drinking green tea seems to clear your head, you may not be imagining it. A food research journal has recently published results suggesting that the natural properties of green tea affect the generation of new brain cells linked to memory and spatial learning. We have previously shared studies that documented the benefits of green tea, including strong bones and teeth and it potential in fighting prostate cancer. While many studies have focused on disease prevention, this study suggests that chemical properties in tea may impact cellular mechanisms in the brain. Although mice were used in this study, it is possible that green tea could eventually help with memory problems in humans.
