Carte Noire, literally “black card”, began almost 35 years ago when Rene Monnier, a coffee blender and roaster whose family produced Grand Mere, started his own new coffee business. The Monniers chose the name and the black and gold packaging to reflect sophistication and elegance. Carte Noire has been marketed as “a coffee named desire”, also reflected in their commercials and other advertisements. In fact, some have described their ads as seductive! Carte Noire remains today as one of France’s most popular coffee brands. We have many roasts in our Carte Noire range, including Classic, Velours (as velvety as it sounds), and Decaffeinated. We have ground, whole beans, instant, pods, and espresso Carte Noire coffees available.
Grand Mere, started by the Monnier family, is named after a grandmother because “Grandma knows how to make a good coffee.” Just look at the package to see her smiling at you as you enjoy her coffee. Today, Grand Mere is one of the top coffee brands in France. We have ground Degustation (Tasty) and Familial (Family) roasts in 8.8oz packages.
Maison Du Café is produced by Douwe Egberts France. In France, their advertising slogan is “Each cup offers a moment of pleasure and friendship.” We have two roasts. Ma Tradition is a combination of Robusta and Arabica coffee beans, roasted in the Douwe Egberts process, which produces a fragrant and balanced medium roast coffee. L’OR Doux is soft and sweet and is 100% Arabica coffee.
