The Netherlands is the home of Douwe Egberts, the most popular coffee in the country. The country itself is iconic – think Dutch canal skating, wheels of cheese, wooden clogs, to name a few – so this week we’re highlighting special sights to see on a visit.
When thinking of Amsterdam, do images of large houses along a canal come to mind? While that is the iconic image, there are also homes not canal-side that reflect the history and architecture of this great city.
Let’s start with the Rembrandt House. The actual building dates from 1606, a prominent house of the time; today the interior is restored and decorated just as it was when Rembrandt himself lived there for 20 years from 1640. The iconic artist painted the majority of his masterpieces while living there, and had a collection of rare objects (suits of Japanese armor and busts of Roman emperors, for instance) along with paintings, drawings and sketches from the Old Masters. His collections and his studio, where he taught students to paint like a master, have been recreated, so the home is now a museum.
One of those houses on a canal is the Anne Frank House. The house opened to the public in 1960 with the mission to encourage freedom, equal rights and democracy. Designated a world heritage site, one million people visit annually.
One more house that is must-see: The 3D Print Canal House, made entirely of plastic and foam, is a unique look at 3D printing (one printer was 6 meters’ tall, and is on display), and the process it takes to put it all together. While the construction is still on-going, each piece used is fabricated individually and tacked on to the house. You can also learn about the printing process on your visit.

Have You Tried These Douwe Egberts Coffees Yet?
Like a darker roast? Try Douwe Egberts Mocca Aroma coffee, rich and full, with spice and cocoa notes. We have Mocca Aroma in ground and whole beans. Just a reminder that this Mocca coffee is not the kind of coffee/chocolate drink you order at a café, but instead refers to the type of bean.
We have Douwe Egberts Black, a dark, rich coffee in ground. As one of the brand’s most popular coffees, it’s a top-seller.
If you prefer a lighter coffee, try Douwe Egberts Select Aroma in ground. The Arabica blend is silky, smooth, with very subtle notes of fruit, and a mild flavor.
These coffees are made for the European market, so it’s just like a cup served at a canal-side café in Amsterdam! The discount is only available through Tuesday, so order today!

Coffee vs Tea Study Looks At Drinker’s Personality
A new study of 2000 Americans gathered data to examine how a person’s choice of drink relates to her personality. For instance, you’d think that those of us who drink coffee in the morning would be the loud, extroverted group, but no. Turns out the tea drinkers are outgoing, and night owls, while the coffee drinkers are the creative, introverted types. A few other interesting findings:
• More than 75 percent drink their first cup of coffee or tea before 8AM.
• Tea lovers were more likely to enjoy “The Walking Dead” and “Friends” while coffee lovers prefer “The Office” and “Seinfeld.”
• Coffee drinkers prefer punk, rock, blues and jazz; tea drinkers choose classical, country, pop or hip-hop.
• Coffee types average 3.4 cups per day; tea types sip 2.7 cups.
The study was conducted on behalf of a company that makes disposable paper cups.
As always, enjoy better coffee and thanks from the EnjoyBetterCoffee Team!
